Tax Debt Relief

Tax debt relief covers several aspects of assistance: Wage garnishment, innocent spouse, bank levies, offers-in-compromise, payroll tax problems among other situations. Ignoring these situations from the time they begin is usually the greatest reason that people end up in this kind of trouble. We at H & S Tax Accounting will assist you each step of the way and keep you informed on your case.

Offer-In-Compromise

The IRS will accept an Offer-in-Compromise when it is unlikely that the tax liability can be collected in full and the amount of the IRS Offer in Compromise reasonably reflects collection potential. An Offer in Compromise is a legitimate alternative to declaring a case as currently not collectible. We must prove that it is within the IRS' best interest to settle your tax debt for less than you owe. You should hire a professional with knowledge of the IRS' procedures. We determine the least amount that the IRS will accept from you. Let a tax professional prepare the documents for you quickly and affordable. If your Offer is not submitted correctly it will be rejected.

Non - Filed Tax Returns

Let us give you the peace of mind you deserve by helping you, get in compliance with the law. If you voluntarily file your delinquent returns you'll likely avoid further problems other than having to pay the interest and penalties. If you wait for the IRS to file your returns for you, they are filed in the best interest of the government, usually with little or none of the deductions you are entitled to. In some cases you might receive a refund by filing your non-filed returns. Let us assist you in getting back into compliance. Contact us for free consultation.

Back Taxes Owed

We offer several options when it comes to resolving unpaid taxes. Please contact us for a free consultation.

IRS Audit Representation

Receiving that letter stating that you have been chosen for an audit can be a very anxious and nervous moment. You may have many worries that you don't know the answers to or may want some explanation and assistance during this process. Typically there are three types of audits.

1. Correspondence Audit- you receive a letter from the IRS stating that either you failed to report income that was reported to the IRS, i.e. a Form W-2, or 1099 or you claimed a deduction and they want proof, this is the most typical and can generally be resolved by either filing an amended return or proving the documentation with appropriate substantiation.

2. Office Audit- you receive a letter from the IRS to schedule a meeting with you at local IRS Office, they will request that you bring a list of documents to support items on tax returns, generally the letter will be specific of what to bring.

3. Field Audit -you receive a letter from the IRS whereby the IRS agent will want to meet with you at your place of business, generally these audits are performed on businesses, however if you have reported self employment income on a schedule C then you may have a Field Audit of your home, especially if you have claimed the home office deduction, they will want you to prove this.

The essential thing is to be prepared. Shawn Shahsavari is a former IRS Field Agent and an Enrolled Agent. Having a qualified tax professional to represent you in an audit could save you a lot of stress. Qualified tax professionals understand the tax law and procedures and will make sure the client's best interests are protected and that the client's rights are protected.
